So it's been a while since I've last posted a blog entry. I've been busy. Too busy. I probably should try to keep a blog on the regular though.

So what's been going on?

Well, last month I debuted Molasses volume 2 at Memphis Comic Expo. I had an OK time there - met some interesting people, and ate some BBQ nachos, and sold some comics and t-shirts. Now that i'm back home, when I'm not trying to beat this heat, I've been busy peddling books.

I've been really proud of this 2nd volume as it's pretty damn great. This time around I was able to give everyone equal page time, so Milton Knight has a whole 4 page story in the book that's absolutely hysterical. Also featured in the book are Robert Wertz (creator of Kitty's Cats), Charles Brubaker (Ask a Cat, Small Bug Comics), Magic Sweater, and myself. All awesome stuffs. You can order it online at

Next print book I plan on publishing is a collected volume of Princezz. I'm waiting until I'm finished with this major storyline though, which I estimate will fill at least 120-140 pages, so it's possible that I'll print a shorter work in the interim.

I do however have a non-comic project in the works. I'll be illustrating a biographical book about Robert Frost. It's due to be published sometime in 2017. I think that particular project will be a quite challenge for me, as it'll require that I really dole out the realism.

Anyways...happy Summer!

For 250 points I will draw a digital caricature of you, a friend, your pet, or one of your heroes (like Abe Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt.) And I will do so either in b/w or full color - it's your choice!

You will be responsible for providing source material for the caricature, and let me know if there's anything in particular I should add to the drawing such as a pizza, a watermelon, baseball bat, or an OC.

Caricatures will be posted to my account for your convenience. Images will be posted in a full resolution, and you will be free to do whatever you want with them (including reposting it on your own account.)

You know you wanna get all tooned up, so throw down those points now!

draw draw draw. Buy the Preston Blair Book, and listen to everything <a wytiwyg="1" href="…" john="" k<="" a=""> says to do on his blogs. I especially recommend his advice about buying a stack of 30s and 40s toons, and just freeze framing them and draw what you see. Of course, judging by your gallery, I believe you're already on your way there.

Otherwise, only more personal anecdote I have, is make sure to network and follow plenty of other artists. Study many styles, even if they're ones you don't particularly care for. It'll help you out in big ways.
